As an adventure enthusiast, I learn something new from every adventurous trip of mine. Adventure activities not only help us become more fit mentally and physically but also give us the opportunity to meet new people while taking part in challenges that test both our muscles and heart. These trips are especially rewarding for children as they learn to deal with their fears and worries in a healthy way. The fast-paced activities that they can take part in allow them to bond with nature and learn the knack of making quick and sensible decisions.

An adventure destination need not always be in the Himalayas. It could be a simple two-hour rock climbing session in the neighbourhood. What matters is the participant’s willingness to switch from his or her daily routine and take risks. And Bengaluru has a number of places around where one can be in close touch with nature.

n Ramanagara - A paradise for rock climbers, Ramanagara is located 50 kms from the City. It is spotted with rocks and provides multiple routes for rock climbers. Famous as the location where ‘Sholay’ was shot, a large portion of this place was recently declared as a vulture conservation sanctuary.

n Turahalli - Located eight kilometres from Banashankari, Turahalli is visited by many rock climbers and cyclists during weekends. The routes here are perfect for beginners and several adventure activities are organised here.

n Bananthimari Betta - It is a lesser known trekking destination located approximately 60 kms from the City. It is an ideal place for kids to go on their first trek as it is an easy two-hour trek and consists of grassy land, a rough patch of tall shrubs and rocks and boulders atop. However, permission from the forest department is mandatory to visit this hill.

n Makalidurga - This place is perfect for night treks. Watching the city lights from the top while enjoying the cool breeze is definitely refreshing. Situated 60 kms from Bengaluru, the trek here is easy and therefore safe at night. Anyone can make it to the peak effortlessly. So lace up your shoes and start exploring because there is nothing more splendid than the beauty of nature.
