A day after a 23-year-old fashion designer died during a concert by American artiste Skrillex in Gurgaon, her family registered an FIR against the organisers.

Aanchal Arora had collapsed, apparently due to suffocation or a heart attack, and died while being taken to hospital.

Her relatives alleged that the concert was not managed properly and that there was overcrowding at the event, which led to her death.

“They allowed twice the number of people,” said Somesh Arora, a family friend.
“She rarely used to go out for late night shows. On Sunday, she went for the concert as her friends insisted that she come along. We never thought that she would never come back,’’ said Vinod Marwah, Aanchal’s uncle.

Aanchal had completed her Diploma in Fashion Designing from Pearl Academy in Naraina, Delhi, and had opened her own studio.

According to Gurgaon police, the venue was congested. While seeking a no-objection certificate for the event, the organisers had said they expected a crowd of about 5,000. But nearly 10,000 people turned up, police said.

Based on Aanchal’s father’s complaint an FIR was filed.

Meanwhile, her family is waiting for the post-mortem report to ascertain the cause of her death.
