A 28-year-old man was stabbed to death at his house in northeast Delhi’s Karawal Nagar late on Friday.

His family members claimed that a group of four or five men armed with knives had forcibly entered into the house. He was scheduled to get married on December 4, police said.

Victim Bunty lived with his family at Shiv Vihar Phase 5. He worked with a private company in east Delhi’s Anand Vihar. Police said the family was sleeping after having dinner when there was continuous knocking on the main door.

“The attackers are yet to be identified. They asked for Bunty and forcibly entered into the house,” said a police officer.

Bunty was still sleeping in his room. The group overpowered Bunty and attacked him without any warning. He sustained multiple stab wounds.

“Bunty was taken to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on Friday,” the officer added.

A case of murder has been filed with Karawal Nagar police station. Police have analysed the footage of a CCTV camera at a neighbour’s house.

Bunty’s family members and friends have been questioned, but they have failed to provide any clue on why he would have been attacked.

Bunty’s wedding next month would have been an arranged marriage. Prima facie, police suspect that a disgruntled lover may also be behind the attack.
