Two held for misbehaving with cops

Last Updated 22 November 2015, 20:32 IST

The Sampangiram Nagar police on Sunday arrested two persons who claimed themselves as members of a human rights organisation, on the charge of misbehaving with police.

According to police, the arrested persons have been identified as Shiva Kumar and Yogesh. In the early hours of Sunday, the traffic police were conducting a check for drunk driving on Residency Road. The cops stopped a car and found that the driver was drunk. They slapped a notice on him and asked the driver to pay the fine in the court and take the car.

The duo, who were noticing this, approached the cops and asked them to let go the car, as there was a woman in the vehicle and it was not safe for her to travel in an autorickshaw at this point of time. They also demanded the cops to close down bars and pubs in the City before conducting the check for drunk driving. Both were inebriated and created a ruckus.

The traffic police alerted the Sampangiram Nagar police, who arrested both the men. They were taken to the police station and their antecedents are being verified, police said.
