As his social media accounts say — he is a wanderer, thinker, poet, traveller and a biker. He has a blog — ‘Emotion leaked through words’ — where he pens out his thoughts. He believes in living in the moment and has a spontaneous life. Karan Jotwani, the young and talented small screen actor, who is currently seen in the popular youth show ‘Kaisi Yeh Yaariyan’, has a lot of roles in his basket.

With his good looks and energetic acting skills, he has successfully stolen millions of hearts across the country in a short span of time.

In a chat with ‘Metrolife’ enroute to Lonavala, Karan Jotwani talks about his random travel plans, love for food and more.

How did you get into acting?

It just happened. One day, I left my dad’s business because I didn’t really want to work at a desk. I was randomly passing through a place where I saw a few auditions happening. I went for one of them and since then, I have been in the acting fraternity. I think it was destiny. I wasn’t really passionate about acting but I like the medium of expression. It is a nice way to vent. I think one should treat a script as a normal conversation with someone.

If not an actor, you would be...?

I would be a journalist or a tennis player. Before I got into acting, I was working with a newspaper in Mumbai as an intern writer and later, as a copywriter and social media executive. I love writing.

You have earned a huge fan base in a short while. How do you feel about it?

It is pretty normal actually. I have never considered myself a celebrity or an actor. That is why I make it a point to interact with everyone I can whenever possible — be it through social media sites like Instagram, Facebook and Twitter or when I meet them. There are no special feelings as such.

How do you handle all the love and attention given to you by your fans?

They keep sending me messages about how good an actor I am and how much they love me. I reciprocate by thanking them and ask them to keep blessing me and whenever possible, I try to meet them. So there is no pressure as such.

All your social media profiles say that you are a wanderer, thinker, a poet and you love to travel...

Exactly. Even as we speak, I am with my bike, on the road and am heading off to... I don’t know where. The shooting schedule is such that we don’t have a particular day off. We shoot whenever possible but we take two or three days off in advance. Right now, I am somewhere near Karjat and have stopped for a while, after which I will head off to Lonavala. I don’t know where I am going to be tomorrow morning. It is very spontaneous and that’s the best part about my life.

How do you spend your weekends?

It depends actually. If I am shooting, then on the sets, otherwise I will be wandering somewhere. I will be hanging out with my school friends or playing some tennis perhaps. I will be writing or riding. I used to party at some point but I don’t have that urge anymore; I am growing up! (Laughs)

Being a rider, where do you head out often?

There are no specific destinations as such.  I want to make a bike trip to Ladakh some day but I think it’s not the appropriate weather right now. So most probably, I will go to there in February. I like to go to any place I have never been to. However, now the plan is to go to McLeod Ganj, Dharamshala as soon as possible.

Things you cannot live without?

My phone, bike and thoughts. I constantly keep thinking and keep a diary.

Are you a foodie?

Big time! Trust me, I gorge on everything and anything that comes my way. I am a hardcore non-vegetarian. And I will be the last person to ever go on a diet. I thank God (and my genes) for my metabolism.

What dish are you craving now?

Cheese Maggi, since it was banned for a while. I haven’t had Maggi for a long time.

Do you cook?

I can only make pasta and omelette. I can boil rice but I definitely cannot cook the way my mom can.

Any plans to enter Bollywood?

Not for now. I would love to get into Bollywood eventually but like I said, I am still trying to find my passion for life. Writing is something that I am really passionate about so I don’t know what’s in store for me. I really don’t think about tomorrow. I am a person who lives in the moment. I am a wanderer and cannot focus on one place, so I have no ambitions as such.
