Located on the main road of Green Park, The GrogHead is a newly-opened gastropub in the city which promises to treat its visitors with quality food, drinks and a comfortable experience. Spread over 9,000 square feet with a seating capacity of around 150 people, the restaurant also offers valet parking and a soon to arrive microbrewery.

Coming to the intriguing name of the gastropub, “The place is meant for all those who love Grogs (Australian slang for booze) and hence called grogheads. Just like someone who loves sleeping too much are often called sleepy heads. The place is thus, a tribute to all Grogheads here,” says Sandeep Sehrawat, who owns the restaurant along with Anuj Sehrawat and Vivek Malik.

The atmosphere and interiors are fresh, inviting and spacious. The walls and interiors are a mix of rustic and modern, with a bar on the side and a stage at the end for live musical gigs. The first floor, while already spacious has been left uncluttered with a view to accommodate large crowds on event nights. The terrace is tastefully done with a dedicated live bar on one side and a live wood-fired pizza kitchen opposite to it.

On being asked as to what is ‘different’ that GrogHead offers, Sandeep says, “Our food menu is very extensive. We are trying to differentiate ourselves from a cafe. That is the standard we are trying to maintain. With initiatives like providing valet parking, we look forward to providing a comfortable experience to our guests. Trying to serve them with good quality food, even when the whole place is jam-packed with people, is what we thrive to achieve at GrogHead.”

Given the footfall that every cafe, pub or a restaurant has everyday in Hauz Khas Village, won’t that affect their footfall and visibility?

Sandeep clarifies, “One doesn’t visit a restaurant for a band, or good interiors or anything else for that matter. Food is primarily their main concern. Also, with the trend of selling liquor, food has taken a huge back seat in the industry. So there will be a time when people will feel frustrated by mediocre food and will look for a better alternative.”

In the mean time, the owners are still in the process of doing their menu engineering. The current menu, however includes signature dishes like  Gin and Tonic Chicken (chargrilled whole chicken leg on skin marinated with Gin, Tonic, lemon juice, basil and other herbs), Rum and Cola Lamb Shank (braised lamb shank with rum and cola glaze, Salmon Khan’(Grilled Salmon Steak served on a bed of Vodka Injected Seared Watermelon), Cottage on Fire! (Cottage Cheese Roulade), Aubergine Farcie (stacked aubergine stuffed with ricotta), Balls of Fury! (Jack Daniel’s lamb meat balls), Jap-friendly Smoked Salmon, Cottage Cheese Steak with Bloody Mary Sauce, Barbeque Pork Rack with Sangria Salsa, Ravishing Ravioli (chicken ravioli with Jägermeister and tomato reduction) and a variety of wood-fired pizzas.

The beverage menu is equally phenomenal with quirky drinks like Naughty Babaji (spiced rum, muddled mint, lemon chunks, honey, Babaji bitters, essence of bishop’s weed, Pakhandi ke goti), The Vamp Diaries (Rosé wine, rose infused vodka, apple juice, red pepper, pink pepper corn, mint, maraschino cherry), Two Gun Slingers (Cachaça, Tequila, thyme, fresh orange juice, jalapeño, sparkling water, celery salt and paprika rim), Paan-tini (betel leaf infused vodka, TG bitters, peppermint rose rim), Chlorophyllous Villain (Peach Schnapps, Baileys, Midori), BMW (Baileys, Malibu, Whisky), Bar-gasm’ (Baileys, Amaretto, Kahlua, whipped cream) and many more.

So if you are looking forward to a fresh alternative to crowded Hauz Khas Village (which is nearby), head to the newest gastropub in town.
