Care of Footpath 2
Kannada (U/A) Cast: Kishan, Deepath Pathak, Avika Gor, Dingri Naresh, Esha Deol, Anees Bazmee
Director: Kishan S S

Kishan, who etched a place for himself in the record books as a young director with Care of Foothpath, is back with Care of Footpath 2. The film, not a sequel, boasts of technical finesse, is emotionally hyper, and seeks to debunk the generally accepted mindset “once a criminal, always a criminal.”

Trying to bring about change in the attitude of people towards the impoverished lot living on streets, Kishan, touches upon the issue of juvenile offenders. Kishan, while giving a thriller feel to his social treatise to woo common audience, could have done a lot better with deftness as also crisp editing and subtleness.

The film revolves around Krishna, Viji and Dingri street scums. Taking offence to Inspector Karthik’s misbehaviour with lover Geetha, Krishna and his friends vow to eliminate the man.

However, they end up killing the wrong man. While public prosecutor seeks stiff punishment, defence lawyer Meera, however, reasons otherwise.

Throwing light on how society is responsible and how the apathy of the public, media, judiciary and police have made criminals of these people, the film makes a clarion call to look at juvenile offenders humanely.

Fast paced, the film, spotlighting on how the milieu is what makes them and despite trying to reform in face of adversities, society at large is impediment, Care of Footpath 2 leaves audiences rethink attitudes. Kishan shows he has matured as sensitive moviemaker but still has miles to go to turn into an assured auteur.
