Huawei Enterprise, part of Chinese networking and telecommunications equipment and services company Huawei Technologies, reinforced its cloud and Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) strategies to make deep impact in the market.

In an interaction with Deccan Herald, Huawei Enterprise India President Daniel Jiang said, besides partnering with the government initiatives like Digital India and Smart City projects, the company finds opportunities in cloud and BYOD spaces too.

“Our public cloud service was deployed in July 2015, and we started working with China Telecom, and some West European telecom players. In India, we are helping our partners to give quality solutions to customers in areas like service, storage, network, network virtualisation, public, private, and hybrid space. For this, we have partnered with Netmagic, Sify, and NxtGen, among others,” he said.

Jiang said business-driven ITC will enable industrial transformation, and it is the key message of Huawei in the cloud space. “We know that transformation is towards public and hybrid cloud, and we have solid infrastructure and architecture to meet the competition. We are finding lots of opportunities in India, with over-the-top (OTT) services providers,” he said.

He added that the company finds huge customers in the cloud space, and in eCommerce companies like Flipkart, Paytm, Justdial, and Jabong, among others. On BYOD, he said, the company has already deployed it internally, and added solutions every year as per its employee feedback. “In BYOD, we have two layers of solutions. One layer is for connection and related ICT infrastructure, and the second layer is  various products for BYOD application,” he said.

“Besides giving connection anywhere —not only through wireline and wireless — we are offering connection via Wi-Fi, IoT, and 4G/5G infrastructure solutions. For the second layer of product for BYOD application, we are working with  local partners to see how to integrate it and serve our customers. We provide office automation services, video conferencing and security services,” he said.

Local partnership

The company has succeeded in integrating mobile and tablets into a collaborative communication system. As part of testing work flow automation and office automation, the company is working with local partners and has given SDK (Software Development Kit) to partners to test their solutions.

When asked about its partnership with the government, he said that the company is ready to build the state-of-the-art ICT infrastructure for driving and implementing the transformation initiatives. “Government of India’s Digital India initiative will give thrust to build infrastructure. Once data network and Wi-Fi is ready, the government can provide services like smart banking, education, and citizen services. Since mobile will play an important role, it will push eGovernance, smart banking, and smart transportation. We are also ready to partner with the government for the Smart city initiatives,” he said.

Huawei Enterprise is already associated with the Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT), and negotiations are going on for Digital India and Smart City initiatives.

To further engage with the partners and customers, the company also announced the launch of the ‘Huawei Joint Innovation Solution and Demo Centre’.

“Building the state-of-the-art ICT infrastructures is critical for driving and implementing the transformation initiatives. This centre will allow us to share our experiences in the pursuit of solution innovation with enterprises and transformational initiatives for India,” he said.

The Huawei Joint Innovation Solution and Demo Centre, located in Huawei’s R&D centre in Bengaluru, will focus on the whole ICT solutions testing environment in India, and resources that include Campus, Datacentre, Cloud Computing, ISP, IOT, and all vertical solutions to enable faster and timely POC testing.
