Giving momentum to its hardware strategy, backed by a solid software platform, Microsoft on Friday unveiled its Surface Pro 4, the fourth iteration of professional-grade tablet in the Indian market for consumers as well as enterprise users.

In an interaction with Deccan Herald, Microsoft Director (Product and Programme Management Surface Devices and Accessories) Vineet Thuvara said that the device is an apt reflection of Microsoft Chief Exexcutive Officer Satya Nadella’s new strategy.

“Surface reflects his vision of Microsoft as a cloud-first and mobile-first strategy. Here, the entire ecosystem of Windows applications can be run on the Surface Pro Tablet. We want to make sure that when a consumer gets a Microsoft device, it should enhance his productivity,” he said.

When asked about the target segment, he said that ideally, the product will be aimed at people using PCs as its target audience. “Besides media and entertainment segments, the Surface Pro devices will get more adoption in sectors like manufacturing, IT and gaming,”he said.

Microsoft Surface Pro 4, which the company said will be exclusively available on Amazon for the first six months, has three variants with prices starting at Rs 73,990. Buyers can book the device from January 7 onwards, and deliveries will start on January 14.
