To prevent touts from hacking into its e-ticketing site and elbowing common passengers out of the booking process, railways has put in place a strong anti-hacking software.

The software –developed by its IT arm Centre for Railway Information System (CRIS)- is the result of increasing complaints that touts block out passengers from using the IRCTC booking site and buy tatkal and other tickets within the limited time they are available.

Client script software
“Most people have complained that touts use Client Script Software to block them out when the site opens up for service. We have now acted on the complaints and have made hacking impossible for them using Client Script Software,” a senior official said.

Client Script Software speeds-up the process to upload the client’s personal data and would make it impossible for others to easily access the ticketing site, especially in the first few minutes when it opens up for ticket booking.

Officials said IRCTC has also strengthened its website to allow 7,200 tickets to be booked per minute from the earlier limit of 2,000 per minute.
