Mahindra Retail has decided to bring Carter’s, an American brand of children’s clothing, gifts and accessories, to its chain of BabyOye stores across India. As part of the company’s plans, Mahindra aims to open 40 store-in-stores at BabyOye outlets in 15 cities across India and online at babyoye.com, beginning in January 2016.

The brand will be present as a 250 sq ft store-in-store format with Carter's trademark fixtures to give Indian consumers a world class shopping experience. This will be the first time in India that Carter's apparel will be available in store.

“This partnership is part of our vision to offer young mothers the best of world-class products that encompass the entire spectrum of baby and child care needs,” Mahindra Retail chief executive officer Prakash Wakankar said.

Carter’s is already available online at www.babyoye.com and on our app and our customers can now also shop for the complete range in BabyOye stores across India, Wakankar added.

According to Carter’s Kevin Corning, the company has been in talks with the Mahindra Group for nearly an year. “The demand on the US website led to this opportunity to look at other markets and we started talks with the Mahindra Group nearly an year ago. We are looking at a lot of other markets and we would look at a tie-up model in those countries as well as going on our own would entail investments in those countries,” Carter’s Inc EVP International Kevin Corning said.
