Waste water management course

Angadi Institute of Technology and Management, Belagavi, is offering Master in Technology in waste water management, health and safety engineering. The technical post graduation programme aims to address waste water problems and solutions in the present world. The course also deals with health and safety engineering, and related advances in the industrial sector. Spread over two years, the course deals with topics related to technological management of waste water, occupational health, safety engineering and institute-industry interaction where the students get a first-hand experience related to the recent environmental approach in the industries and so on.
Applicants should be a graduate in BE or BTech or equivalent in civil, biotechnology, chemical or environmental engineering. Appearing for Karnataka PGCET entrance exam to be held in June/July is mandatory.

Scholarships for science camp
The Bayer Science & Education Foundation is awarding 25 scholarships this year for the Bayer Science Camp in Denver, United States. Five scholarships are for young people from India. The theme of the science camp is ‘Life Science and Medical Health Issues’, which will be conducted in partnership with the prestigious STEM Harmony education centre at the University of Colorado, United States from July 25 to August 8, 2016.
Applicants should be between the ages of 14 and 16 and have good grades in scientific subjects, a very good command of the English language and a strong interest in medical health issues.
Download the application form from www.bayer.in and e-mail it along with a one-page essay in English on the ‘Role of the life sciences in health and society’, copies of grade reports, a certificate of good health from a physician, and a passport photo to csr.india@bayer.com or chaitanya.krishna@bayer.com. The certificate of good health from a physician must certify that students are indeed in good health and can participate in physical activities at altitudes. The deadline for applications is March 31, 2016.

International Business programme
The Academy of International Business (AIB) India Chapter has announced a new initiative called Ind-IB, which will provide doctoral students and faculty the opportunity to gain in-depth understanding of key International Business (IB) theories and frameworks, create strong research linkages with IB scholars across India, and develop IB research agenda with the ongoing mentorship of senior academics experienced in publishing in international journals. Ind-IB will be appropriate for IB scholars, as well as those from other fields who are interested in undertaking IB research and would like to gain more exposure in the field.
Ind-IB will consist of three two-day intensive modules, each adjacent to a scheduled AIB-India Chapter event. The modules will be delivered by specialist faculty from India and overseas. Yugaantar workshop
Bhoomi College, a civil society organisation based in Bengaluru, is convening a workshop-cum-conference called Yugaantar to focus on the issues of transition from the current industrial era to a more ecological one. The workshop will be held on April 7, 8 & 9 2016, at Bhoomi College and is open to about 60 participants by invitation. The Yugaantar conference will be held on April 10, 2016 at the Sathya Sai Samskruta Sadanam, Hosur Road, and will be open to about 700 participants. The conference will feature presentations and talks by pioneers in the field, as well as short, concurrent workshops, documentary screenings and open sessions for learning partnerships. BA in acting and theatre arts
UK-based Staffordshire University invites applications for three-year BA (Hons) acting and theatre arts programme. Taught at the School of Film, Sound and Vision of Staffordshire University, this course aims to provide students with knowledge and understanding of the key developments in theatre history, dramatic writing and theatre.
The programme allows students to explore a wide range of industry-based theatre disciplines, styles, methods, genres and approaches. Students are provided with enriching theatre visits to London, Stratford upon Avon and New York.
The course curriculum includes core modules like explorations in acting and performance, theatre production, theatre practice and 20th century drama & theatre and many others. There are no formal exams during the course and the assessment is done via presentations, coursework and take-away papers.
Applicants must have scored approximately 70 per cent in class 12 and with an overall IELTS score of 6.5. All applicants are individually assessed by a workshop entry.
The course commences from September 2016 and automatic merit scholarships worth £1,000 for the first year of study are available for all applicants who meet the entry requirements.
For each subsequent year a student studies at Staffordshire, they will receive a scholarship based on their end-of-year grades. The application deadline is March 31, 2016.

BookArt event
Kutoohala, a parent and child experience centre, is organising an event called BookArt to introduce young children to outstanding children’s picture books and engage them in art techniques of famous children’s book illustrators. In this session, the organisers will read books by author and illustrator Catherine Rayner, revolving around the lives, friendships and emotions of animals. Story book illustrator, Barbara Reid, will also be present. The event is scheduled for April 2, 2016 from 4 pm to 5.15 pm at Bells Montessori, House of Children, No 43/2 ,VS Century Towers, H B Samaja Road, Basavanagudi, Bengaluru.
Kids aged between two and four years are invited, and an adult has to accompany every child. Only one adult is allowed per child. Limited seats are available for registration. Kalpana Chawla Endowment Fund
The India Chapter of the Society of Satellite Professionals International (SSPI) was recently announced along with the launch of the Kalpana Chawla Endowment Fund for Girls and Boys. SSPI is a global non-profit organisation dedicated to the development of the space industry through outreach, education, and policy dialogue. The start of the Indian chapter represents a significant milestone in advancing India’s space ecosystem and raising public awareness of the benefits of the space industry and science to the people of India.
SSPI India, through its global network and strong Indian team, aims to create a community of passionate members dedicated to developing space science and research through programmes to enable Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) education and women empowerment. SSPI India is also partnering with SPACE Group to launch the Kalpana Chawla Space Settlement Design Competition.  
SSPI India intends to bring together industry motivated professionals of all types — from astronauts to scientists, industry veterans, start ups and students on a common interactive platform through various events like seminars and workshops.
