Give us time, we will seal Indo-Bangla border: Rajnath

Last Updated 30 March 2016, 19:38 IST

Union Home minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday assured the people of Assam to wait for sometime and the Centre would take a concrete step to seal Indo-Bangla border.

The undertone was to ask people to vote for the BJP in the ensuing Assam assembly polls where BJP has given a call to drive out all illegal migrants from Assam if voted to power.

“After the creation of Bangladesh, heavy infiltration of illegal migrants has happened in Assam, but the congress government has not taken any step to stop the infiltration and they do not care about the serious problem. We have a meeting with the Bangladesh government on illegal infiltration issue and very soon we will seal the border to stop infiltration,’’ Singh said.

Singh alleged that the ruling Congress government in Assam has taken no steps to stop the fake currency notes which were illegally coming from other countries through border and affected the Indian economy.

He also accused the congress government for failing to implement the plantation labour Act, 1951. “I promise that if our government is formed in Assam, we will develop the Tea belt areas which were exploited by the Congress government since Independence.

When people come from outside and visit the Tea belt areas and see the plight of the garden workers, they have a negative perception about India. Therefore, our government is very serious upon the issues and much focused to solve the decade old problem,’’ he added.
