5BARz solution to reduce call drops

Global startup 5BARz International, through its subsidiary 5Barz India, has unveiled a new solution — Network Extender — which claims is an answer to the issue of constant call drops.

“Our endeavour is to resolve the poor or no coverage because of low signal strength. Also, we want to solve poor data performance and efficiency in a country like India, where connectivity is registering exponential growth,” said 5BARz India MD and CEO Samartha Nagabhushanam.

Nagabhushanam said that the Network Extender is an integrated one-box compact design that helps in better network connectivity. “We have succeeded in bringing in two antennas, one to receive and another to amplify together. Our competitors have 3 or 4 separate elements for the equivalent solution,” he said.

He said the instrument will amplify available network connectivity and boost it to deliver 5bar strength. “The product has two antennas, one facing the network and another to boost signal, which are separated and avoid lots of tweaking sounds and feedback using patented algorithm technology,” he said.

“The two antennas will be placed far apart using the mathematical algorithms developed by the company. It helps in eco-cancellation and feedback cancellation. This reduces patchy voice, garbled voice, call drops and even poor data penetration,” he said.

He said the product is able to support 2G and 3G right now. The company has signed agreement with two telecom operators to provide this product and ready to support 4G soon.

The company is scaling up its manufacturing to deliver against the growing needs. Axis capital is the investment banker who is helping the organisation in securing the fund.

5BARz has a 35-member R&D centre to customise the product for India. Gil Amelio, the former Apple CEO who bought NeXT and brought back Steve Jobs, is the chairman of cellular network extender company based out of San Diego.
