High-tech election campaign for DMK

 Perhaps the most active senior most politician in the country and the Opposition Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) patriarch M Karunanidhi in Tamil Nadu will kick start a whirlwind election campaign from April 23 for the forth coming elections to the State.

Even as his rivals DMDK-PWF and BJP are still scouting for candidates, the 92-year old Karunanidhi is setting out on a grueling 20-day long electioneering covering several districts, including in neighbouring Puducherry, party sources told Deccan Herald.

It will be high-tech campaign for DMK especially for Karunanidhi, which will be engaging automated state-of-the-art customized vehicles equipped with internet and satellite TVs and have almost all the facilities offered in a luxury star hotel room.

From April 23 onwards, DMK chief M Karunanidhi will be meeting the electorates from a wheelchair that will be raised on his “hi-tech” campaign vehicle with a special fully automated hydraulic lift imported from Germany.

Karunanidhi will address a public meeting in the city and then would proceed towards neighbouring Cuddalore district. The next day, Karunanidhi will be filing his nominations in Tiruvavur constituency at Tanjavur district where he won in 2011 assembly polls.

After visiting Trichy, Perambalur, Villupuram and Tirunelveli, the DMK chief will also go to Puducherry and will address a public meeting canvassing support for candidates of the party.

The DMK supremo is expected to highlight the alleged flaws of the AIADMK government and also explain about his party’s election manifesto in which he promised to bring prohibition and various soups for agriculture sector.

Karunanidhi would end his campaign trial on May 14 after visiting Tiruvarur district again and its nearby constituencies. Meanwhile, Karunanidhi’s son M K Stalin, who already started door-to-door canvassing, will also be touring various districts.

In addition, DMK-Congress combine have roped in with film stars, television actors and also noted singers, who are expected to tour across the State.

The DMK camp is also expected to have star-studded team with film personalities such as Vagai Chandrasekhar, Imman Annachi, a popular television anchor, Kumari Muthu, Vasu Vikram and Poochi Murugan.

In Congress, the party’s women wing head Khushboo undoubtedly will be the star campaigner backed up with actor Nagma, who has also evinced interest in going around the State to meet the voters and address several rallies.
