Vida, a state-of-the-art anatomy museum housing over 10,000 specimens of human body parts was inaugurated by Minister for Health and Family Welfare, U T Khader, at the Vydehi Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre on Sunday.
The specimens were collected over several years from various departments of the hospital.Established on an area of one lakh square feet, the museum would be thrown open to students from various schools and colleges to help them understand the human body better.
Dr G Mohan, medical superintendent, Vydehi Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre, said, “Specimens of the human body, normal and abnormal parts that medical experts have seen and specimens from medico-legal cases that have been collected by the forensic sciences team have been put together in the museum.”
Meanwhile, close to 6,000 people benefited from a free mega health camp that was organised in memory of founder chairperson of the hospital D K Audikesavulu.
The camp was jointly organised with support from all departments. Besides free investigations, free medicines were also distributed to those who attended the camp. The camp was inaugurated by Khader.
