Who took bribe, Shah asks Sonia

Last Updated 28 April 2016, 19:19 IST

BJP president Amit Shah took on Congress chief Sonia Gandhi on Thursday, asking her to reveal names of those who took bribes in the AgustaWestland scam, as she had said she is not afraid of anyone.

The Congress, however, described the allegations baseless and said that it was the job of the government to tell who took bribes.

Sonia had stated she was not afraid of being cornered by the government and dubbed it as a “character assassination” attempt.

“She (Sonia) is right and that is why such scams keep coming out in the open. That is why when National Herald corruption case happens, you say you do not fear anybody. When AgustaWestland case occurs, you say you do not fear anybody. I want to tell her that we in the BJP are afraid of the Constitution, rules and public norms,” Shah told reporters.
‘Reveal names’

Shah advised Sonia to come out of the “mindset” and reveal names of leaders who accepted money in the scam.

“All I want to ask her (Sonia) is that those who gave the bribe are in jail in Italy. Then where are those who received the kickbacks? Who were in power at that time?  They are responsible and they should bring out the truth. It should be disclosed before the people,” said Shah.

Sonia’s political secretary Ahmed Patel countered Shah’s jibe: “They are in power for the last two years. They should find out. They are asking us…It is for the investigating agencies to find out.”
