The Central Crime Branch (CCB) sleuths arrested a 45-year-old man for fabricating and selling fake government identity cards and marks cards.

Police identified him as Khalid Khan (in pic), a resident of Mangammanapalya in Bommanahalli. Based on credible information, officials raided New Zone Computer Centre, Rammanna Complex, Mangammanapalya Road in Bommanahalli and seized fake Aadhaar cards, voter identity cards, SSLC marks cards, computers, scanners, printers and lamination machines.

Whenever customers took photo copies of the identity cards at the centre, Khan used to scan the originals and save them on his computer. Later, he used to approach people who did not have valid identity cards or marks cards and told them he could get them the identity cards. He used to edit details on the original identity cards and add the person's name and address and other information and sell the printouts which would be used for providing address proofs, joining work or to avail government schemes. He used to charge Rs 2,000 for a fake Aadhaar card, Rs 1,500 for voter identity cards and Rs 1,000 for SSLC marks cards. In the last four years, he has sold fake cards to over 3,000 people.
A case has been registered in Bommanahalli police station.
