MEN'S STYLE

From chilled treats to vibrant clothing, summer is the season that has it all. And especially when it comes to dressing well and feeling comfortable, the heat plays a big role in your daily fashion decisions.

This year, designers have focused on some of the key colours which you should be looking forward to — greens, misty greys, vintage indigo, earthy browns, whites and soft yellows, rustic reds and faint shades of purple. In case you have not been keeping up with the fashion trends and wardrobe building, here are a few tips that will keep you cool for the summer.

Apart from the colours, there are some styles you should try to include in your wardrobe. The silhouette remains quite the same as the conventional ones, but there are few very interesting details, which will get you all the attention you need for the season.

Slim fit chinos: Chinos are not only your best wear-to-workplace choice, but can also be the perfect pick for your casual outings. Just pair them up with a short-sleeve Henley and a pair of canvas plimsolls. A white pair of slim fit chinos is a must have this year.

Distressed jeans: Denims have become more bleached and ripped than ever. You can never go wrong with a good pair of denims. A perfectly washed denim looks great with almost anything. So go and invest in a nice pair.

The perfect polo: A polo can be one of the sharpest and the most versatile shirts in your wardrobe. Look out for the ones with interesting trim details and contrast placket or printed pockets. You can also try pique polos, in case you haven’t yet. Experiment with the collars and go for the slim ones or the Chinese collar. Choose colours wisely; you don’t want to mix your dark winter tones in this temperature.

Short-sleeve shirts: It is no longer considered a sign of simplicity and everyday life. Shirts from the ‘50s are remarkably in trend this year. Keep things relaxed with slim fit, short-sleeve shirts. A printed sleeve or collar ones are a must-have in your collection this year.
Longline shirts: An interesting silhouette for men this season are the longline shirts. This casual range is good for your weekend hangout. The plaid and colour-blocked ones are trending. Pair them with skinny chinos and sneakers for your happy hour.

Fitted flat front shorts: If you are still wearing baggy, long cargo shorts, you are missing the fun of the most delightful wear of this season. Shorts have become bit slimmer, yet giving you enough fitting room without compromising on comfort and showing too much leg. Get yourself a pair of rustic red ones, just team them up with your Henley’s and printed polos for that perfect summer look.

Block stripe tees: Looking to add some stripes to the wardrobe? Go for bold blocked striped tees. Find interesting dual shade ones, you won’t have to think twice before wearing those.

Printed shirts: Solids can be very boring. Men in India usually prefer subtle prints when they have to balance their work wear and evening wear. If you like wearing prints, this is where you can start. You can find a large variety of small anchors to little dotted motif to choose from. Try monochromes shades or powder pastels and enjoy your summers.

Wide-legged trousers: The term ‘skinny’ is long forgotten for this season. Leg wear has become wider and comfortable. If you fancy being on trend, keeping in mind the comfort, it is highly recommended that you try out wide-legged trousers. Team them up with trainers and casual shirts.

When looking at trends, it’s important to know what suits you, as there’s nothing worse than buying into a trend that is completely unflattering. Keep your personal choice on top and try to stick to the classics, but that doesn’t mean you cannot modernise it. Allow yourself to experiment a little bit. And don’t forget to add colours. After all, menswear is not all about black and greys anymore.

Denim shirt

In this scorching heat, nothing feels as good as a lightweight quality denim shirt. Much like its cousin chambray, it looks great in both casual and dressed up styles. A marshy-coloured, military shoulder strap denim shirt is a must-have this season.

Cuban collar shirt

Instead of investing in that simple button down shirt, a Cuban collar shirt can be a perfect seasonal pick this summer. There are a lot of varieties in the market, but it is
recommended that you go in for a light cotton poplin one. It will be a good choice for a day on the beach or a casual drink date. Try some refreshing summer prints.

Linen shirts

The best fabric to keep you fresh and comfortable all through the hot and humid days, linen is extremely airy and light. This makes the fabric one of the most
wanted items this summer. Pick out cool mints and white colours for your
day-to-day hustle.
