In a late evening development, the state government transferred Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Additional Chief Secretary Subhash Chandra. He has been posted as Additional Chief Secretary, Home Department.
According to sources, the transfer comes following RDPR Minister H K Patil requesting Chief Minister Siddaramaiah that Chandra be moved out of the department. Sources said the minister suspected Chandra’s involvement in illegalities in sanction of a Rs 71-crore tender for 46 water-testing labs.
Patil wanted Chandra to be sent on leave and an inquiry initiated, but the chief minister ‘in his wisdom’ transferred him to the Home department, the sources said.
Also, three chief engineers working with the RDPR department have been suspended, the sources added.
