Best known for playing the lead role in the television serial ‘Shanti’ back in 1994, Mandira Bedi has been successful in winning millions of hearts over the years all around the world. From being a household name she slowly climbed the ladder of popularity, surprising everyone with her avatar as a sports presenter. And that’s not all.   Mandira, entered the world of fashion and launched her label — ‘Sarees by Mandira Bedi’. Today, many fashion enthusiasts adore her as an  icon. Mandira was in the city recently on the occasion of the ‘World Whisky Day’, to promote USL-Diageo’s global campaign ‘#LoveScotch’. In a chat with Surupasree Sarmmah, she opens up about her current endeavours and her upcoming ventures.

Tell us what Mandira Bedi is up to these days?
To begin with, I am here to talk about my love for Scotch. I am getting ready for a new game show starting this July, apart from which I have a few web series and cricket  lined up this year. A lot of things are happening this year and I am looking forward to all of it.

You have always been known as the ‘cricket girl’ who conquered the hearts of many. When are we seeing more of you on television?
This October (smiles).

Any upcoming movies or shows?
I am doing a South Indian movie, but can’t share too many details.  I will be shooting for that. There is a schedule planned for the beginning of July.

You have been an actress, a fashionista, a fun television presenter and now an entrepreneur with your signature sari store...
Sari is my favourite garment. My sari store has been up for 2 years now. It is a multi-designer store, in fact I have close to 30 designers on board. My recent launch, which was about 10 days ago, is a collection of mini beach saris called ‘Salt’. It is inspired by the utility of a sarong and is perfect for summer.

You have played different roles and always succeeded...
You know what, all I can say is ‘thank you’, it’s been a pretty long journey. I have been around in the business of entertainment from the last 20 years. God has been very kind, there are wonderful opportunities coming my way even now. The world is still open out there for me and I am very grateful to everyone who has been there for me and supported me. I feel blessed.
