Even as students across the state were busy checking their II PU results on Wednesday, daughter of a daily wager in the taluk, who had secured 78.8% in the exams (Science stream), was busy working as a labourer in Bengaluru unaware of her achievement.

M S Bhavya, daughter of Shankaralingaiah and Thaya- mma of Mallanayakanahalli, is said to have accompanied her parents to Bengaluru. The family is struggling to make ends meet.

Bhavya, who use to travel 40 km everyday to college in Bharatinagar in the taluk, has brought laurels to the taluk.

When the results were declared on Wednesday, the reporter, who went to meet Bhavya at her house in Mallanayakanahalli, found it locked. Upon checking with the neighbours, the issue came to light.

Speaking to Deccan Herald, teacher Marigowda said, Bhavya had also appeared for the CET. “She is hoping for a good percentage and is aspiring to pursue medical course. If she gets a medical seat, I would definitely help her beyond my capacity. Other philanthropists should extend financial help to Bhavya,” he said.

The marks scored by Bhavya: Kannada-86; English-62; Physics-86; Chemistry-88, Mathematics-67, Biology-84.

She had completed her primary education in her village and joined Kithuru Rani Chennamma Residential School, from where she completed her SSLC. She had got 85 per cent marks in SSLC. Later, she was given free admission at Bharathi Composite PU College, in Bharathinagar, with the help of teacher Marigowda and others.
