Airtel rolls out Platinum 3G network in Bengaluru

Telecom services provider Bharti Airtel on Tuesday announced the launch of its Platinum 3G network in Bengaluru. C Surendran, CEO – Karnataka, Bharti Airtel said, “This (Platinum 3G network) gives much better indoor coverage. It is powered by the dual spectrum band of 900 Mhz along with 2100 Mhz.”

He added that this service does not require any additional subscription, and is part of the network enhancement of Airtel’s existing 3G network.

Platinum 3G network is available in Bengaluru, Mangaluru and Mysuru. Airtel’s customer base in Karnataka is 21 million. “Of the total customers, about 50% use data, and of them 30-35% use 3G. Our market share in the state is between 47 and 48%,” Surendran said.
