Gigu, Anarghya emerge champs

Marcose Gigu and Anarghya Manjunath emerged champions in the sub-junior boys’ and girls’ sections respectively of the RS Shakunthala Memorial State-ranking table tennis tournament here on Friday.

In the boys’ summit clash, Gigu defeated Rathin Kalose 11-7, 8-11, 11-7, 11-7 to clinch the crown.

In the corresponding girls’ final, Anarghya beat Yeshaswini G 11-3, 11-3, 11-5, 8-11, 11-7 to bag the trophy. Anarghya had earlier beaten Vaishnavi in the semifinals.  

Results: Sub-junior: Boys: Final: Marcose Gigu bt Rathin Kalose 11-7, 8-11, 11-7, 11-7.
Semifinals: Rathin bt Sujan 11-5, 8-11, 11-9, 11-7; Gigu bt Aditya Tantri 11-7, 7-11, 8-11, 11-6, 11-8.

Girls: Final: Anarghya Manjunath bt Yeshaswini G 11-13, 11-3, 11-5, 8-11, 11-7.
Semifinals: Anarghya bt Vaishnavi N 11-13, 11-6, 11-5, 11-3; Yeshaswini bt Aditi Nandi 11-9, 4-11, 11-3, 11-13, 11-2.
