Briefing the media at the office of the Divisional Regional Manager on Saturday, the minister said that promises made to introduce a new tri-weekly Rajdhani train between New Delhi and Bangalore and extension of the Mumbai-Karwar train to Mangalore will be given priority.

The pending Hazrat-Nizammudin-Bangalore Rajdhani Express will pass through Kacheguda. The existing Rajdhani between Bangalore and Hazrat Nizammudin station runs four times a week and passes through Raichur, Secunderabad and Nagpur enroute New Delhi.

The move is aimed at ensuring that there would be a Rajdhani between Bangalore and New Delhi on a daily basis, said Divisional Railway Manager Akhil Agrawal.
A preliminary engineering-cum-traffic survey for the dedicated South-South Corridor announced in the 2010-2011 Railway budget will be taken up this year, the minister said. The corridor will link Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Goa. The corridor is expected to boost freight business.

“All survey aspects for the 15  new survey lines announced for Karnataka will be completed in six months,” Muniyappa said.  Out of the seven new lines proposed, these three will be done on Public-Private Partnership: Talguppa-Honnavar, Bijapur-Shahabad and Dharwad-Belgaum.

Karnataka will get 77 out of the 1,000 unmanned level crossings planned all over the country, said the minister. “A sum of Rs 15.40 crore will be spent on this,” he said.
K H Muniyappa reiterated that the proposed trains between Yeshwantpur and Devanahalli and Yeshwantpur and Anekal will be introduced in March. However, no date was specified.

Two ROBs
Bangalore would have two Road-Over-Bridges (ROBs) coming up at Kodigehalli and Sarjapur at a cost of Rs six crore each and 12 Road-Under-Bridges will be constructed a cost of Rs two crore.
