In a bid to provide better services to passengers, the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) will soon launch the revised version of its existing app. The latest version will be available in Kannada in addition to English.

The city transport utility had launched the English version of the app when the Intelligent Transport System (ITS) service was inaugurated by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in the last week of May. Though the BMTC had plans to provide a Kannada version during the launch, it could not do so due to time constraints.

Since the launch of the app, the technical team had been spending time improving it and rectifying technical glitches. Officials say the Kannada option will be available in another 15 days as the technical team has been working on it for a week.

An official said the technical team is already testing Kannada fonts to select a suitable one. Once it is done, labelling will be made available in Kannada as well as in English in another one week.

This decision was taken on priority as there was a demand for the Kannada option of the existing BMTC app.

To provide names of bus stands and bus shelters in Kannada, the database has to be changed. This takes a few days. There are also plans to provide information about link-services (indirect routes) in the app.
