Last Updated 04 July 2016, 19:20 IST

Union Minister of State for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises G M Siddeshwara is being dropped from the council of ministers.

According to sources, Siddeshwara, who is from Davanagere constituency, met BJP president Amit Shah in the evening and he was told that he would be making way for Dalit leader Ramesh Jigajinagi. Shah told Siddeshwara to work for the party. When state leaders recently requested Shah to accommodate Jigajinagi in the council of ministers, he wanted to know which Union minister from the state could be dropped.

The leaders wanted Jigajinagi to be inducted without dropping anybody from the state. However, Shah said one minister from the state would be dropped to accommodate
Jigajinagi.
