Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated with enthusiasm in the city on Thursday. People gathered in their hundreds to offer Namaz early in the morning in different parts of the city.

Masjid-E-Eidgah Bilal on Bannerghatta Road, Chamarajpet Eidgah Maidan, Mysuru Road Eidgah Maidan and Koramangala Eidgah Maidan were some of the places where people gathered to pray and wish each other Éid Mubarak’. Little children in their new clothes and with mehendi on their hands obediently performed prayer rituals.

Minister for Urban Development and Haj, Roshan Baig, and Congress leader C M Ibrahim took part in prayers at Quddus Saheb Eidgah Maidan at 10 am.

Thursday marked the end of the holy month of Ramzan during which Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset. With the morning prayers on Eid, the celebrations began.

Lunch, a meal they were having after weeks, was a grand affair with varieties of biriyani, meat dishes and delectable sweets. Relatives and friends, dressed in traditional clothes, visited each other’s homes to exchange greetings and gifts.
