Two drown in Kalena Agrahara lake

Two persons drowned while two others escaped with minor injuries after the tractor in which they were travelling fell into Kalena Agrahara lake, off Bannerghatta Road, near Hulimavu on Wednesday evening.

According to police, the deceased have been identified as Prashanth, 18 and Anand, 55. The injured are Puttanna and Rajappa. They are all residents of Kalena Agrahara and were working as labourers.

On Wednesday evening, Prashanth along with Puttanna and Rajappa, was going in the tractor. As they reached the road next to the lake, Prashanth, who was driving the tractor, lost control over the vehicle and fell into the lake along with the vehicle.

Prashanth drowned to death while Puttanna and Rajappa managed to escape, the police added.

Anand jumped into the lake to save Prashanth, but drowned. The passersby alerted the Hulimavu police, who rushed to the spot along with fire and emergency services personnel.

They fished out Anand's body. Efforts are being made to fish out Prashanth's body. But the rescue operation was called off due to poor light, the police said. Hulimavu traffic police has registered a case for rash and negligent driving and Hulimavu law and order police have registered a case of unnatural death.
