An American street artist erected a miniature wall around Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump's star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame to mock his rhetoric of building a wall between Mexico and the US to stop illegal migration.

The 6-inch wall made of wooden planks and topped with barbed wire emerged around the 70-year-old controversial real estate tycoon's star as tourists stopped to click photos of the gray wall which was also plastered with "keep out" signs.

The tiny wall by popular Los Angeles-based street artist known as 'Plastic Jesus' was, however, removed in a few hours.

This came on a day when the reality TV star managed clinch the Republican party's presidential nomination for the November polls despite a divided opinion within the party.
The artist, known for posting "No Trump Anytime" signs on street corners in Los Angeles, New York and other cities earlier this year, tweeted: "I built and paid for the wall myself. No Mexican money."

The post was accompanied by a photo of the star with the 'wall' as onlookers clicked pictures of it on their mobile phones.

Another post on Instagram, which garnered over 13,000 'likes', had a caption: "Hollywood sight-seers on the famous walk of fame were confronted with an unusual addition to Trump's Famous Star. Someone had built a 6" tall grey concrete wall around it. Complete with "Keep out" signs and topped with razor wire. The unofficial addition to the iconic star appeared early Tuesday afternoon, to the amusement of onlookers."

According to the British-born artist's website, his art is influenced by 'news and culture'.
The wall alludes to one of Trump's most controversial proposals - the erection of a wall along the US border with Mexico in order to halt the flow of illegal immigrants, the CNN reported.

Trump's Walk of Fame star, which he got on Hollywood Boulevard in 2007 for his hit reality TV show "The Apprentice", has been targeted the past as well.

The real estate tycoon has repeatedly vowed during his campaign to build a wall between Mexico and the US to stem illegal immigration and drug smuggling.

While his rhetoric has drawn cheers by many, it has also attracted criticism from rights groups and even US President Barack Obama
