Lights out
English (A) , Director: David Sandberg
Cast: Teresa Palmer, Gabriel Bateman, Maria Bello

Would you entertain the idea of a woman coming back from the dead to haunt a single-mother and her kids in a haunted house? Well, that’s the theme of Lights Out, the latest horror flick from David Sandberg known for the frightful 2015 flick Attic Panic.

Sandberg continues to churn a somewhat silly theme into unexpectedly skillful twists and spooky stuffs.Loosely based on the 2014 hit film The Babadook, the film is characterised by its old school methods of spooky storytelling — Sandberg makes sure you know what is coming, but he continuously gives you surprises and jolts from the most unexpected corners of the house.

A simple theme of Diana, the ghost, who appears when the lights go out may be moronic, but the excellent camera and sound works give the audience a near-perfect combo treat of a good traditional haunted-house story and a stalker flick.
