Last Updated 24 July 2016, 20:24 IST

A 25-year-old transgender was beaten to death by her friends near Raghavendra circle in Ramamurthy Nagar.

According to the police, the victim has been identified as Shruthi, a resident of Anandapura in Ramamurthy Nagar. Around 11.45 pm on Saturday, Shruthi was going in an autorickshaw near Raghavendra circle. Ashwini, Sonu, Myna and Sheetal, also transgenders, noticed Shruthi and stopped the autorickshaw. They picked a quarrel with Shruthi for leaving their group to join another transgender Veena. As they were arguing, Ashwini and her friends thrashed Shruthi, who fell unconscious.

Meanwhile, Shruthi’s friends learnt about the incident, rushed to the spot and shifted her to a nearby private hospital. The doctors there asked them to take her to Bowring hospital. She succumbed to her injuries around 5 am on Sunday, said the police.

A few months ago, Shruthi was staying with Ashwini in Amruthalli and differences cropped between them. Shruthi decided to shift her house and started staying with Veena. Ashwini was furious over Shruthi leaving her and decided to assault her. On Saturday night, the and her friends waited near Raghavendra circle and attacked Shruthi. The Ramamurthy Nagar police have registered a case and are on the lookout for the suspects.
