"I think being Aparna Sen's daughter definitely had its advantages since she is such a respected actor-director," said Konkona, who won the National Award for Best Actress for the 2002 film.

Despite the headstart, the 30-year-old actress believes that she also needed to prove herself as an actor.

"But my mother is not like Amitabh Bachchan that pan India everybody knows and loves her. Star kids do get more opportunities, but there are so many whose careers haven't worked out," Konkona said.

The actress enjoys working with her national award winning mother the most and will soon be seen in a new movie with her."I love working with her the most. I have completed shooting for 'Iti Mrinalini' which will be released in April in both Hindi and Bengali. The film has my mother playing the older version of my character," Konkona said.

The actress was in the capital recently to promote her upcoming Bollywood film 'Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge?'. Releasing on Friday, the film stars Ajay Devgan and Paresh Rawal and has been produced by Wide Frame films and Warner Bros Pictures. "'Atithi...' was one of the easiest and stress-free productions, the shooting was over in a few months. I wish every film could be as easy as this," said Konkona, who plays the role of a Bengali interior designer in the film.

She has made a name for herself as a serious actress with films like 'Omkara' and 'Page 3', and this film is her first out and out comedy."I was taken aback when I was approached with the script as I am not offered such roles. But I am trying to act in all kinds of films," said Konkona.

The film, directed by Ashwni Dhir, is about how an urban nuclear family is peeved by an unwanted guest who overstays his visit."Big cities have a very large migrant population. Families suffer from space constraint, and when some guest comes unannounced, it becomes a problem. It is something everybody must have experienced once, so I think people will identify with it," said the two-time national award winner.

The actress is juggling between Bollywood and films with Bengali directors like her mother and Rituparno Ghosh. She has also recently acted in a play named 'The Blue Mug'.
"It is not very tough to balance everything. I took two months off to do this play. And then I am working with Ghosh in 'Sunglass', which is a comedy film again. I am lucky that I get the opportunity to work with people like him," said Konkona.
