There are plenty of places for one to walk into when they enter the 5th block of Koramangala. Providing a number of flavours to choose from, one of which adds to the ‘chill-out’ quotient, is ‘House of Commons’ located opposite ‘Hotel Empire International’.

The no-brainer, relaxed and fun environment of this restaurant is what sees the crowd coming throughout the day. One will find a number of travellers, white collars, shopaholics, ideators, artistes and many others under one roof here. The ambience is warm, cosy and comfortable. The retro-style restaurant with reclaimed wood and metal, and Moroccan tile bar counters offers a little bit of everything for everyone. However, the music might be too loud for those who are expecting to have a quiet time.

The food presented here has its own charm which includes everything right from the presentation to the cutlery that it is served with. The ‘Masala peanuts’ come in a glass jar, adding a cute quotient, and one would enjoy digging into it. The peanuts are tangy, salty and spicy — just a sprinkle of all flavours that one needs to start the meal. The place is popular for the ‘Chip and dip platter’, a plate of crispy nachos, onion rings and French fries served with an assortment of dips. The salsa for the nachos, to one’s surprise, is not too tangy or watery.

The other starters that one could indulge in are either fried or cooked in a ‘tandoor’. The ‘Masala fry chicken’, ‘Pepper garlic chicken’ and ‘Fish tikka kali mirch’ make for delicious choices.

As the concept is to provide something for everyone, the cuisines in the main course include Indian, Chinese and Continental. So one can choose what they would like to have or even mix and match their dishes. However, they are very common in flavour and taste. The portions served are ample.

The restaurant also offers an array of mocktails, cocktails and other drinks at affordable prices. With an in-house DJ to keep the night young, one can even suggest the music that they’d like to be played.

‘House of Commons’ is located at 122/B, Jyothi Nivas Road, Koramangala 5th Block. For details, call 42117029.
