Now, DKS defends Ramya on Pak remark

Last Updated 28 August 2016, 20:01 IST

Energy Minister D K Shivakumar has defended Kannada actor and former Congress MP Ramya on her controversial statement on Pakistan.

Ramya has not done anything wrong. There is nothing controversial in her statement on Pakistan, he said when reporters asked for his view on the actor’s remark.

The BJP and pro-Hindu outfits have taken objection to Ramya’s recent remark that the people of Pakistan are “good and lovable”.

“Is it possible to forget what BJP leader L K Advani said while releasing his book a few years ago? Can you forget the gifts sent by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to his Pakistani counterpart,” Shivakumar said after inspecting a power dispatch station near Anand Rao Circle on Sunday.

Speaking to reporters during his visit to the load dispatch centre near Anand Rao Circle, the minister said that technical glitch led to disruption in power supply in some parts of the city. He rubbished the reports that the gas-based power plant at Yelahanka was not environment friendly. “It is mischief of builders who were spreading rumours about the power plant. The unit is environmentally safe.” He said the hydel power generation was getting affected due to deficient rainfall in the state and less water in the reservoirs.
