Sangama Sambhrama-2016 for cultural harmony from Sept 24

A five-day ‘Sangama Sambhrama-2016’ conference aimed at cultural harmony has been organised at Field Marshal Cariappa College grounds, from  24 to 28 September.

Addressing media on Tuesday, Kodava Sahitya Academy president B S Thammaiah said, “As part of the conference, Art Camp organised by Karnataka Lalithakala Academy will be inaugurated on September 24 at 10 am at C K Brad Holidays resort on Chettalli road near the town.”

Madikeri City Municipal Council president Kaveramma Somanna will inaugurate the camp, and academy chairman M A S Murthy will preside the event.

Folk troupes

On September 27 at 10 am, a procession of cultural troupes has been arranged from Gandhi Maidan to College Grounds. Various folk troupes from all the academies will take part in the procession which will be flagged by DC Richard Vincent D’Souza.

The procession will be followed by the opening of ‘Sangama Sambhrama-2016’, with Women and Child Development Minister Umashree doing the honours. Minister for Forest, Ecology and Environment and district in-charge minister for Dakshina Kannada B Ramanath Rai,  Minister for Planning and Statistics and the Kodagu district in-charge minister M R Seetharam, Mysuru and Kodagu MP Prathap Simha, MLAs K G Bopaiah and M P Appachu Ranjan, MLCs M P Sunil Subramani and Veena Achaiah, Zilla Panchayat president B A Harish are expected to attend the programme.

Cultural events

The afternoon schedule, starting from 2.30 pm will unveil a host of cultural activities, presented by Karanataka Beary Sahitya Academy, Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy, Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy, Karnataka Sangeeth Nritya Academy, Rashtriya Santha Kavi Kanakadasa and Research Centre, Karnataka Nataka Academy, Karnataka Kodava Sahitya Academy and Karnataka Arebhashe Samskriti and Sahitya Academy.

Bonding over language

An interactive session titled ‘Bhasha Bhandavya’ (language bonding) has been arranged on September 28 at 10.30 am, followed by the release of books and CDs brought out by various academies and authorities.

‘Vachana’ a book in Kannada translated to Kodava and published by Basava Samiti, Bengaluru will also be released. The valedictory session is scheduled at 3.30 pm, the same day.

Karnataka Arebhashe Samskriti and Sahitya Academy chairman Kolya Girish, Karnataka Konkani Academy chairman Roy Castelino, Registrar Umarabba were present at the media briefing.
