ACB trying to frame Kejriwal: Kapil Mishra

Last Updated 24 September 2016, 20:20 IST
Water Minister Kapil Mishra lashed out at the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) on Saturday for sending him a notice on the alleged tanker scam involving the Delhi Jal Board. Mishra, who is the complainant in the alleged scam, said the Centre-controlled ACB has been trying to “frame Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal when the real accused is former chief minister Sheila Dikshit”.

Terming the notice as a “love letter”, the minister said the ACB has asked the “same questions” which he had already answered earlier. “The ACB is only questioning me about the role of Kejriwal in the matter. I am the complainant and former chief minister Sheila Dikshit is the accused. When will the ACB question the real culprit?” he added.

Mishra appealed to the honest officers at the ACB not to give in to the pressure. “I know there is tremendous pressure on honest officials to frame Kejriwal in any case. But I appeal to the honest officers to follow the righteous path and if they are being pressurised, they can come to us,” said the minister.

“Inclusion of the name of Arvind Kejriwal in an FIR over the alleged irregularities in the recruitment process of the Delhi Commission for Women, shows the desperation of the ACB to frame the CM,” he added.

The minister said that the ACB should arrest the “real” accused of the water tanker scam. “If the ACB arrests former chief minister Sheila Dikshit and interrogate her thoroughly, the truth about the tanker scam will come out. We will also get to know why Modiji is protecting Dikshit,” said Mishra. “But the ACB paid a 20-minute visit to Dikshit’s house and asked her to answer the questions as per her convenience,” he added.

Earlier this week, the ACB registered an FIR against chairperson of the Delhi Commission for Women Swati Maliwal and it included the name of Kejriwal in the list of accused persons. The ACB, however, said that it has not found anything incriminating against Kejriwal.
