'I feel my time is right'

starrer Freaky Ali. “I will always be thankful to Sohail bhai (director) for casting me in this film, and giving me a wonderful opportunity to work with one of the best actors in the industry,” adds Arora, who has previously worked in films like Dushman, Monsoon Wedding and Chalte Chalte.

The model-turned actor, who is best remembered for featuring in Gud Nalon Ishq Mitha — a popular non-film song from 90s, says he was offered several films and TV shows when his career was not going in the desired direction. But instead of making hurried choices, he decided to wait patiently to make the right move.

 “There is never a bad time for an actor in this industry. You will always get some work. But I was pretty sure about one thing, that I didn’t want my fans to say things like yeh kya kar raha hai aajkal after watching me feature in bad films or roles,” he tells Metrolife.  “For whatever little work I have done, I have created a brand name for myself. I didn’t want to spoil that,” he adds, saying that during this phase he worked in a Singaporean English language sitcom Achar.

Arora, who launched his eponymous fashion label two years ago, says he would like to retain his bearded look for some time, despite knowing that it can typecast him in negative characters. “I don’t fear getting typecast. I would like to keep this look for a few films and play the bad man who has been missing from the big screen,” he says.

“I feel my time is right as I was recently approached by a popular director who thought my appearance was perfect for a powerful character in his new film. So, I hope everything goes well,” he adds.
