Amar Chitra Katha to come alive on TV from March 28

Mumbai, Mar 11 (PTI)

Kid's entertainment on television is set to get livelier this summer with the launch of 'Amar Chitra Katha' on Cartoon Network.

Amar Chitra Katha comics, entertainer of generations and one of the greatest sources of Indian history, epics and fables, is all set to come alive from March 28 on the small screen, said Samir Patil, CEO and Founder, ACK Media.

"It has been a big challenge given the diversity of episodes, something that has never been attempted in a single series," he said. The 26 episode Amar Chitra Katha series is an interesting mix of stories and has been produced by ACK Media and Turner International.
The series reinvents the inimitable Amar Chitra Katha comic art style for the world of 2D animation for the first time ever on television.

The episodes are based on some of the popular stories like 'Kumbhakarna', 'Mahiravana', 'Tales of Arjuna', 'Tales of Vishnu', 'Abhimanyu', 'Drona', 'Tales of Shivaji' and 'Ghatotkacha'.
The animated stories are designed for family viewing – enjoyable for both children and grown-ups, he added.

Monica Tata, Vice President and Deputy General Manager Entertainment Networks, South Asia, Turner International India Private Limited (TIIPL), said, "Turner with its kids’ networks – Cartoon Network and POGO has promoted Indian home-grown animation and is the owner of country's largest bouquet of Indian animation titles."

"We are confident Amar Chitra Katha will re-ignite the emotional bond audiences enjoyed with the stories and give their kids a chance to watch the age old epic in the format they love the most- animation."

"We have worked for over a year to develop the series in a way that remains true to the Amar Chitra Katha story telling tradition and does justice to the vast sea of stories in our collection," she added.
