Bharatiya Janata Party leader S Suresh Kumar on Friday asked Bengaluru Development Minister K J George to show courtesy while clarifying questions raised by the media on the controversial steel flyover project from Chalukya Circle to Hebbal.

“There was no opposition from the public to any of the infrastructure projects taken up in Rajajinagar Assembly constituency. Moreover, all projects have been taken up in the interest of people and I don’t personally benefit from them,” he stated. Suresh Kumar is an MLA from the Rajajinagar constituency.

George had taken exception to Suresh Kumar opposing the steel flyover project and said the BJP leader never spoke against any of infrastructure projects that were coming up in Rajajinagar constituency.

Suresh Kumar further added that it was unfortunate that the Congress government has refused to hold a public hearing on the controversial project despite stiff opposition from people.

It is even refusing to give information to the media. Many of the members of
the Vision Group have also expressed doubts on the project being implemented by the Bangalore Development Authority, Suresh Kumar added.

‘Gold flyover’

Besides, former minister R Ashoka of the Bharatiya Janata Party said the steel flyover is likely to prove to be a “gold flyover” for the ruling Congress government.

“It is not steel flyover. It is actually gold flyover for the Congress. Hence, the government is so adamant on implementing the Rs 1,791-crore steel flyover project,” he charged, hinting that the project is a money-spinner for the government.
