Actor Rohan Mehra doesn’t shy away from taking risks and that is precisely why he decided to be a contestant on Bigg Boss (Season 10). He wanted to be a part of it not only because it is a popular show but also because he believes that it worth experiencing life in the Bigg Boss house.

He made his television debut with ‘Gumrah: End of Innocence’ and the young lad has been getting a host of small-screen offers since. He is popular for his role of Naksh Singhania in ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’, a television soap he says is very close to his heart for a lot of reasons. In an interview with Nina C George, Rohan talks about why he chose to be a part of Bigg Boss.

What prompted you to sign up for the reality show?

I have always believed in taking risks because one can’t play it safe and expect to achieve the impossible. I worked in the family business for a little over a year before I decided to pursue a career in acting and modeling. After appearing in numerous ads and films, I did ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’. And now, I’ve decided to take the risk of being a part of Bigg Boss, which, I think, is the longest running show on television.

How did you prepare before entering Bigg Boss?

I made sure that I spent quality time with family because I will miss them when I am away at the show. Quality time with family and friends will help me stay strong and patient. I also did a lot of shopping as I will be getting locked up, hopefully, till the end.

Your expectations from the show.

I've always been an independent person and I’ve stayed in boarding school as well. But living in the Bigg Boss house will make me more patient and teach me how to deal with different kinds of people. The show has a different set of audience from ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’. I hope being a part of Bigg Boss house helps me win lots of love.

Are you ready to deal with ups and downs during your stay in the house?

Of course, what's life with only ups and no downs? It is important to stay positive and constructive criticism helps one grow.

This is the first time ordinary people will be part of a show that was earlier exclusively for celebrities. What do you think about it?

It’s interesting and makes this season unique. I am looking forward to it.

What were your earlier impressions of the show?

I have watched a few previous seasons of Bigg Boss. Even if you aren’t watching the show, you will get to know what is happening on it because everybody around you is hooked to it. It seems to be everybody’s favourite and I am expecting it to be very challenging.

Are you a Salman Khan fan?

Of course! Who isn’t? He is a superstar.
