San Jose-headquartered Nutanix, engaged in enterprise cloud platform, is planning to double its headcount in the next 12 to 18 months in India.

Talking to DH, Nutanix Technologies India Managing Director and Vice President Sunil Mahale said, “We started our India operations in 2014. Currently, we have 400 employees including 360 engineers and 40 into sales and support. We will double our headcount to 800 in the next 12 to 18 months.”

In India, Nutanix has its presence in Bengaluru, Delhi and Mumbai. India is a hub for global research and development which caters to 90 countries worldwide.

“Currently, Nutanix has 40 customers in India. We will add 500 more clients in the coming period. The Indian R&D centre supports 25% of the global work, 25% of global support, and 50% of big business operations are handled from here. For Nutanix, the biggest vertical is IT (information technology) and ITeS (information technology enabled service),” Mahale added.
Recently, Nutanix acquired automation startup Calm.io and PernixData for an undisclosed amount. Both the acquisitions will help Nutanix strengthen its enterprise cloud platform. The company said that cable manufacturer Polycab Wires has deployed the Nutanix enterprise cloud solution.

NxtGen, a provider of cloud and data centre services in India and Singapore, has announced a partnership with Nutanix. The partnership is to develop, market and sell Hosted Private Cloud services and an enterprise-class cloud-based Disaster Recovery model from NxtGen’s nine data centres located across India.

These services can be leveraged by enterprises on an on-demand, elastic and pay-as-you-grow model, which enable cost efficiency by up to 60% reduction from licensing, enhanced scalability, fastest time to value – allowing enterprise IT innovation without compromising on the security and control of on-premises IT infrastructure.

Nutanix competes with Simplivity, Cisco Systems, EMC, and Hewlett Packard Enterprise on the delivery of hyperconverged infrastructure.
