Civic agencies, KR market, APMC to remain open today

Last Updated 27 November 2016, 19:38 IST

Government agencies such as BBMP, BDA and BWSSB will work on Monday, even as the Opposition parties have called for a Bharat Bandh on November 28.

Mayor G Padmavathi said that all BBMP offices across the 198 wards would function normally to ensure that the common man was not affected.

She said that the staff at the BBMP commissioner’s office and the office of the special commissioner (projects) worked on Sunday too.

“Around 30-40 Palike employees worked on Sunday and were busy preparing answers to the queries raised by members during the Assembly session in Belagavi,” she said.

No order

BDA and BWSSB officials said that since they had not received any order from the government about the holiday, they would work on Monday. BMRCL said that the Metro operations would be as usual. “If there is any problem, we will suspend operations,” said a BMRCL official.

The KR market and Yeshwantpur APMC yard will function as usual as the KR Market Traders’ Association and the APMC traders have decided to operate on Monday.

Agriculture Produce Marketing Committee (APMC) president Ramesh Chandra Lahoti said that they were not supporting the bandh.

‘Note ban a good move’

“We feel demonetisation is a good move and is in the interest of the country. The APMC will be open from 9 am to 7 pm on Monday,” he said.
