Low score drives medical aspirant to suicide in Kota

A 17-year-old medical aspirant studying at a coaching institute in Kota committed suicide on Thurday. She is the 17th student in Kota to commit suicide this year.

The deceased, identified as Mahima Yadav, a Class XI student, was a medical aspirant hailing from Raiwadi area in Haryana. Sub Inspector Kamal Singh said, “She was living with her mother and brother at a rented accommodation in R K Puram and had been taking coaching at a premier coaching institute in Kota for about a year.”

According to the police, her body was found hanging from a ceiling fan in her room in the morning.

“As of now, no suicide note has been recovered from the room. However, the girl was reportedly depressed over her low score in the routine tests,” the police said. The body was sent for postmortem and further investigation.
