An exercise in futility

Sojiga
Kannada (A) **
Cast: Vikranth Hegde, Akhila Prakash, Harini, Prashanth Siddi, Yash Shetty, Arvind, Dilip
Director: Dinesh Kampli

Billed as high-octane action thriller, betting on its martial arts stunts to stun audiences, Sojiga, flatters to deceive. With film’s hero a fan of Jackie Chan, emphasis is on showcasing his martial arts capabilities. But, with woebegone wafer thin plot, and abject absence of plausible script, Sojiga is simply a one way ticket to ennui.

Plodding at a snail’s pace, Sojiga revolves around Viki aka Vikranth, returning home from foreign shores, only to disappoint businessman dad Jagannath Rao cruelly dashing his dreams, who hoped his son would don the mantle from him.

Instead of MBA, the son has pursued his heart’s calling and is driven away by a fuming father. Finding refuge at friend’s place, Viki befriends Shravya, sister of a gym owner, who is murdered. The blame falls on Viki and Inspector Rana takes up the case. What ensues thereon forms rest of Sojiga. With nothing of merit to laud Kampli’s misadventure, Sojiga is a film you would recommend to an enemy, in vengeance. Stay away.
