BMRCL invites tenders for HSR Layout-Bommasandra line

Bids for RV Road-HSR Layout delayed due to land acquisition issues

Shortly after inviting tenders for construction of the Baiyappanahalli-Whitefield line, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) has now picked the RV Road-Bommasandra stretch of Phase II.

Without waiting for land acquisition process to get over, the corporation has strategically divided the 18.8-km line into three packages to undertake civil works.

The BMRCL has floated two separate tenders for construction of the Metro line between HSR Layout and Bommasandra. It did not include a stretch between RV Road and Silk Board interchange stations “due to land acquisition issues related to N Lakshman Rau Park”.

For the two contracts, the BMRCL has set a deadline of 27 months from the date of awarding the work order. The two projects are estimated to cost Rs 961 crore. This time, the corporation has included road-widening work in the tenders in addition to construction of structures (viaduct) and stations. The last date for submitting the tenders is March 1, 2017. The tender entails construction of elevated structures (viaduct) and stations between Hosa Road (including) and HSR Layout. The 6.38-km line includes six stations — Hosa Road, Basapura Road, Chikkabegur, Muneshwara Nagar, Oxford College and HSR Layout.

Similarly, the other tender entails construction of the viaduct and stations from Hosa Road (excluding) to Bommasandra (including depot entry line to Hebbagodi depot). The 6.41-km line will have five stations — Electronics City-1, Electronics City-2, Huskur Road, Hebbagodi and Bommasandra.

“We have prepared the tender for the line between HSR Layout to RV Road. There are some issues related to alignment and cutting of trees. We will resolve them and float the tender for this section shortly,” a BMRCL official said.

As of now, the BMRCL is awaiting the permission to cut trees from Electronics City-2 to Central Silk Board and Central Silk Board to RV Road. The corporation says it has already received permission from the BBMP tree officer to cut trees between Hebbagodi and Bommasandra.
