Controversy has erupted over a reported sexual act involving Excise Minister H Y Meti and his relative, an Ayurvedic doctor.

Also, an RTI activist has approached the police, saying Meti’s men had threatened him of dire consequences, if contents of the video of the ‘act’ they thought was in his possession becomes public and brings disrepute to the minister.

However, both the minister and the woman have denied that they were involved in such an act, saying that their relationship was like that of a father and daughter.

RTI activist Rajashekhar Mulali, who has reportedly seen the video of the act, has appealed to the police to provide security to him, after he was threatened by people claiming to be supporters of Meti.

In a complaint registered with the Gandhinagar police in Ballari on Sunday evening, he has demanded that appropriate action be taken against those who threatened him. Mulali said he had only seen the video someone showed him and it was not in his possession.

The minister’s men followed his movements for the last few days and threatened him of dire consequences on December 8.

The complaint says that the matter was being aired on TV channels and that the minister’s supporters may harm him and his family.

Denying the charges, the minister told reporters in Bagalkot that the woman in question was his relative.

The minister said that he did not know who Rajashekhar was. He also denied that his supporters had threatened Rajashekhar. He said that those claiming to have the video should release it first.

Sub-inspector of the Gandhinagar station Mohammed Ghouse said he would look into Mulali’s complaint and then initiate action.

Speaking to reporters, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah told reporters in Bagalkot that he was not aware of the matter. He said he would react after getting relevant information. KPCC president G Parameshwara too refused to comment.
