Cocktails calling

Food review

Sense of Spirits (SOS) - as the name suggests - focusses mostly on drinks, especially cocktails. Unlike most of the other restaurants in Sector 29, Gurgaon, SOS doesn’t have a brewery, but serves an array of drinks to its patron. The bar menu lists over 100 cocktails, curated by a team of experts.

Fantasised by its name, Metrolife decided to pay it a visit. As we went there on a Saturday evening, the place was quite packed with different groups of people - some  celebrating a birthday, a huge group of friends partying together.

With dim blue lights and good remixes playing, SOS has a perfect ambience that suits a partygoer mind. The inviting décor, with walls spattered with dragonfly motifs and uban, chic furniture, adds extra points to it. The spacious lounge makes for ample seating for groups as well and the bar marks centre stage, with seating capacity of over 110 people.

We ordered for  ‘Foxy Millennium Punch’ and ‘Strawberry and Mint Daiquiri’. Mixes of white rum, dark rum, cranberry and guava juice with lime, the drink serves as an instant mood lifter. A must try! The next preparation was little on the sweeter side. It was made of strawberry, mint and rum. Those who like don’t like the bitterness of spirit should opt for it.

Not just drinks, but SOS’s food will also leave you asking for more. It serves world cuisine. We tried the ‘Russian Salad’ - a mix of mixed vegetables, pineapple, fresh cream and mayonnaise.

Next was ‘Chicken Tai Pei’ and ‘Tandoori Jingha’. Deep fried chicken morsels tossed in tangy sauce and onion was a perfect appetiser for us. Whereas, the curd marinated prawns were juicy and melted in our mouth.

For main course, one can try ‘Chicken Tchouptaulis’. Mexican style blackened chicken served with spicy mushroon sauce, herbed rice and buttered veggies. The dish is filling and comes in a good quantity to serve two. Among the desserts, try their brownie with ice cream and lemon cheese cake.
