An insight into stories

'Museum of Memories'
Last Updated 13 January 2017, 18:33 IST

An exhibition titled ‘Museum of Memories’ (MoM) by bangaloREsident Eduardo da Conceicão at Sandbox Collective, assisted by Siddhanth Shetty, will be on display on January 14 and 15, 10 am to 5 pm, at Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan, Indiranagar.

The idea of ‘The Portable Museum’ is a collaborative project of Berlin-based architect and artist Eduardo da Conceicão, present bangaloREsident at Sandbox Collective. Phase one of this project is the Museum of Memories (MoM), focussing on recent disturbing events in the city.

There are several incidents from Bengaluru, and indeed, across the country, that go unreported, or find themselves as tiny news items at the bottom of a page and die quick, sad deaths.

At Sandbox Collective, these happenings have been a trigger of sorts. It seems the formal spaces in which stories, responses and dialogues can be shared are few and often loud and cluttered.

The first edition of the larger, ongoing project — The Portable Museum — would be a Museum of Memories (MoM). It will use art — film, song and visuals — to respond to issues around gender and equality.

Viewers and audience who walk in to see the museum can also submit their work to be displayed. In addition to the display of artworks, there will also be a section of the museum, titled ‘Museum of Shared Memories and  Experiences’. This is a live booth where people can share their experiences and thoughts.
