Artists and art-enthusiasts in the city can rejoice, as the National Exhibition of Art (NEA), which was almost shifted to Chennai, will now be held in Bengaluru.

Chi Su Krishna Setty, administrator of Lalitakala Akademi (LKA), confirmed that NEA would be held in the National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA), Bengaluru.

“We have received an official communication today (Thursday), confirming that the NGMA will provide us their gallery space,” he said.

NEA was slated to begin on January 15. However, the NGMA refused to host the show, citing lack of confirmation of permission from the Ministry of Culture. The LKA had decided to shift the venue to their regional centre in Chennai.

The exhibition will begin on February 23 and go on till March 25. The prestigious exhibition will feature the works of 111 artists, shortlisted from more than 6,000 applications.
